The Back Creek property was once a farm owned by Delaware's first governor, Joshua Clayton. Although the course layout is within a subdivision, the homes on the course are far enough from the fairways that they don't interfere with play or with the visual aesthetics. The course plays 7,113 yards from the black tees for a par of 71. The course rating is 74.4 and it has a slope rating of 134.
For the true “links” experience, Back Creek is walk-able, a rarity among the newer courses. The layout is efficient, with both nine’s looping out in opposite directions. There are no crossing cart paths or neighboring tee boxes to deter your rounds. Rangers keep the pace of play steady.
While Back Creek offers a challenge to the better golfer, it will not frustrate novice golfers who play for the fun and camaraderie. Our course offers better playing conditions than most of the area’s courses, which is the most enjoyable part of this great game. We offer several membership options to satisfy everyone from the weekend warrior to the serious golfer, each assuring that you get the most from your disposable entertainment buck.
